Continue a finished run
Reopen a stopped run with a change request and keep building on it.
A finished run doesn't have to be the end. Run next iteration reopens a stopped run and carries on building it. You can pass it a change request, or just ask it to try again. It continues from the code the run already has, and iteration numbers continue where they left off.
You can reopen a run that completed, was cancelled (including one interrupted when the app closed), or failed, for example after you've fixed the key or quota problem that stopped it.
Reopen a run#
- Open the run's dashboard, from History (tap the run, then Open dashboard) or straight after it finishes.
- At the bottom of the finished dashboard, tap Run next iteration.
- The reopen sheet shows the Requirement history: the Original brief and every earlier note, labelled by iteration.
- Under What should change?, describe the change or what's wrong. This is optional: leave it blank to take another pass at the same brief.
- Under This session, set Max iterations and Max cost for this reopened session.
- Tap Start.
The dashboard picks up at the next iteration number. Your change request is treated like a note: the Analyst updates the acceptance criteria and the Project Manager plans the change against the existing files.
Session limits#
Each reopened session has its own limits:
- Max iterations counts the iterations this session may run. Reopening at iteration 5 with a limit of 3 lets the run go up to iteration 7.
- Max cost counts this session's spend only. What earlier sessions spent doesn't count against it. The dashboard shows both, for example session $0.40 of $1.00 · 40% used.
Discuss the change first#
Tap Discuss with the requirements agent on the reopen sheet to talk the change through with the Analyst. It has already loaded the original brief, the changes requested so far, the files that exist, and the summary of what was built. When it's ready, it posts Change request ready for review. Tap Use this change request to drop it into What should change?
When a run can't be reopened#
- It stopped before the first iteration began. Start a new run instead.
- It was made by an older version of the app.
- A model it used has left the catalog or now breaks a limit.
- Only one run can be active at a time.
- It was deleted.
